at Bunbury and Eaton Vets

Veterinary Surgeons

Meet the skilled vet surgeons at Bunbury & Eaton Vets. Providing expert, compassionate care to keep your pets healthy and happy throughout WA’s south-west.

Dr Gabrielle Chadwick

Senior Veterinarian Surgeon

BSc BVMS MVMS

Dr Gabby graduated from Murdoch Uni in 1991, and has had a varied and devoted Veterinary career, having committed herself to small animal Vet roles in Perth and Northam, prior to moving to Bunbury and marrying Geoff many moons ago. She works extremely selflessly and has become an institution for exceptional GP Veterinary care in her own right, pouring endless care and passion into the welfare of pets in the Southwest.

We were blessed when Dr Gabby commenced work for our practices in 2012. From the get-go, she brought serious added talent to our vet team, including both heart and abdominal ultrasound skills, proficient soft tissue surgery skills, along with an extremely good understanding of canine and feline medicine. During her rare down-time, Dr Gabby will be found pawing over research into her complex medical caseload, or completing professional development courses to further her knowledge-base.

As a consequence of her keen Ultrasound skills, Dr Gabby takes local referrals across the Southwest, allowing the sharing of this awesome, minimally invasive, diagnostic imaging service.

Dr Gabby adores her pet patients. When they are unwell, this provides impetus for her to problem-solve and create a bespoke solution that suits the patient’s particular situation. Her dedication to patients and their owners is second to none.

At home, Dr Gabby has an Airedale Terrier called Pippin, and 11 goldfish! In her spare time she enjoys photography, gardening and cooking, as well as classical singing and performing with the South West Opera Company.

Bunbury and Eaton Vet Clinic - Meet the Team - Dr Jocelyn Bunny

Dr Jocelyn Bunny

Senior Veterinary Surgeon

BSc BVMS MANZCVS

Dr Jocelyn (Joc) is one of our longest-standing Veterinary practitioners within the Bunbury and Eaton Veterinary practices. This provides her with a wealth of experience and empathy for the wide range of challenging circumstances that present themselves in GP Vet Practice every day. Joc grew up in a farming family in Kojonup, and this forms a strong basis for her very calm, easy-going temperament.

Dr Joc has a strong understanding of GP caseload. Her passion lies in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery (and she has taken her study further to complete her Membership qualification in small animal surgery with the Australian Royal College of Vet Surgeons). Dr Joc has also completed professional development courses to become an accomplished surgeon completing tibial-levelling cruciate repair surgery and fracture repairs. This has allowed Dr Joc to build a significant local Southwest referral base for orthopaedic surgery.

Dr Joc has 3 kids (Blake, Caelin and Zara) – she has almost seen them all through high school and into early adulthood, with the support of her hubby, Angus. This has also made her an extremely good multi-tasker, and honed a very grounded, pragmatic approach to her patient management.

At her home in Ferguson Valley, Dr Joc and her family tend what can only be described as a hobby farm – her dogs include a Border Collie – Kira and a Whippet X – Kloof, along with three cats, eight chickens and 23 sheep!

Bunbury and Eaton Vet Clinic - Meet the Team - Dr Kate Lahart

Dr Kate Lahart

Senior Veterinary Surgeon

MVB, Cert SAM, GCert SAUA

Dr Kate came to our practices in 2014, originally hailing from Ireland. She brings very organised and punctual professional traits to the practice, but is also full of good Irish humour.

Dr Kate manages a solid primary consultation workload at Bunbury Veterinary Clinic. She is a highly reliable GP Vet in the canine and feline medicine realm, and also is an experienced soft tissue surgeon. Dr Kate is a sponge for any opportunity to upskill, allowing her to maintain her knowledge and skillset at the cutting edge.

Dr Kate has a special bond with her canine and feline patients. Despite seeing a large patient list each day, she maintains an uncanny memory of the pets she provides care for and can reel off details of their names, breeds (especially Pugs and Labradors), personalities and care-plans with unbelievable clarity. This commitment to truly knowing her patients fosters amazing client-vet relationships within the hospital, along with great patient care outcomes.

Dr Kate loves the variety that being a vet provides, from the joy of meeting a pup at their first clinic visit, seeing them through their preventative life-care, providing as-needed life-saving emergency treatments, as well as assuring quality of life and welfare in their latter years as seniors.

Dr Kate is the proud owner of her gorgeous Labrador, Hunter. He is Dr Kate’s shadow and, as such, loves coming to work with her each day – next time you are in, you will likely spot him just beyond the reception desk, always living his best life! Hunter is also Dr Kate’s training partner for her other passion – triathlons – which she has competed in Internationally. More recently, a new addition, Clove – a mischievous Tomcat, has graced the Lahart family. His cheek and mischievousness is unrivalled. He is also a regular attendee at Bunbury Vet Clinic during Kate’s work hours.

Bunbury and Eaton Vet Clinic - Meet the Team - Dr Ash Bailie

Dr Ashlee Bailie

Veterinary Surgeon

BVSc

Dr Ash came to us after having completed her Veterinary qualifications at James Cook University in Queensland. She is, however, originally of South African origin, moving to Bunbury when she was young with her family – as such, she really does qualify as a true local – we were stoked when Dr Ash arrived home to Bunbury, and strongly believe in the massive value of home-grown talent!

As one of our younger team members, Dr Ash has kept the Vet Team on their toes, encouraging contemporary approach to our Practices’ Veterinary medicine and surgery – this is a constantly improving, evolving space and her recent study has embellished our standards of care. There is definitely no chance of stagnation of skills or knowledge with the fresh perspective she brings.

Dr Ash brings a very gentle, caring approach to her patient management. This assures that pets in her care remain as ‘at-ease’ as possible whilst in the practices. Drawing on this special personality attribute, Dr Ash has special interest in Palliative and End of Life Care. Dr Ash currently bolsters both teams, working between Bunbury and Eaton hospitals. She has a strong sense of family, and really ‘gets it’ with regards to how integral pets are in a home setting, and the special care they deserve.

Dr Ash recently married the love of her life, Nick, another Greater Bunbury local. They have the most disciplined, well exercised Border Collie, Lloyd, as their precious fur-baby. Behind the scenes, Dr Ash is a fitness fanatic and spent much of her late teens / early 20s as her brother’s cycling training-partner, pushing him to achieve Australian representation in the Aussie Commonwealth Games team.

We also have had cause for congratulation to Ash and Nick, with the arrival of their precious baby girl, Indi. Ash is currently taking well-earned Maternity Leave to look after this amazing extension of the Bunbury and Eaton Vets’ family.

Bunbury and Eaton Vet Clinic - Meet the Team - Dr Amanda Allen

Dr Amanda Allen

Veterinary Surgeon

BSc BVMS (HONS)

Dr Amanda originally hails from the United States and has emigrated to Australia after graduating with Honors from Murdoch Uni in 2012. Amanda joined us after working in the capacity of a Primary Care Veterinarian at the Murdoch University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, as well as maintaining a role as a teaching staff member at the University during her time there.

In heading to the Southwest, we are fortunate that Dr Amanda has brought a wealth of knowledge to our team. Post her position in WA’s Veterinary teaching hospital, Dr Amanda has enjoyed passing on those high standards of care gained from working at a specialist level. These include complex internal medicine cases of cats and dogs, with a keen interest in Ophthalmology and Geriatric medicine. Dr Amanda is fear-free certified as it’s her priority to ensure all patients (even anxious ones) feel as comfortable as possible at the Vets. She works part-time between both practices and has a loyal following of clients at both Eaton and Bunbury.

Bunbury and Eaton Vet Clinic - Meet the Team - Dr Teanna Cahill

Dr Teanna Cahill

Veterinary Surgeon

BSc DVM GradDipBusAdm

Dr Teanna first came onto our radar seeking a Regional change after having spent the first part of her Veterinary career in the Southern suburbs of Perth, consolidating her contemporary medicine skills and forming a strong GP Vet foundation.

Dr T’s move to the SW was linked to a desire for a regional change. This has allowed her to bring her horses down and agist them right alongside her home. Dr Teanna has 3 dogs – Loxi, Caramello and Billie, as well as one current foster, Lilly, 2 cats – Pie and Leo, and 6 horses – Dusty, Roxy, Orlando, Scooby, William and Dax. These are testament to her desire to be surrounded by either her own pets, or helping to care for other’s fur babies at all times.

Dr Teanna has bolstered our Eaton Vet team, coming in for afternoon shifts to cover our hectic end of day period. This provides fresh empathy and energy for provision of high-end pet care for the latter half of the day, and sees her being busily sought after as she is peaking when others might be beginning to wind down.

Dr Teanna has a broad knowledge of dog and cat Veterinary medicine and surgery. However, her passion lies in creating contemporary and targeted care-plans and advice for pet owners with animals that suffer from fear/anxiety and other behavioural vices – a group of ‘animal whispering’ skills that are in short supply in our industry, making her a go-to for the patients who need a bit more patience and understanding. She also drives our practices, pushing canine and feline dental health to maintain non-stinky pearly-white smiles!!

Outside of work Dr Teanna aims to be active in her local community. She is an auxillary member of the Yarloop Bushfire Brigade, committee member of Harvey Riding for the Disabled and Chief Coach of Gosnells Riding and Pony Club.

Bunbury and Eaton Vet Clinic - Meet the Team - Dr Elyece Robertson

Dr Elyece Robertson

Veterinary Surgeon

BVMS

Dr Elyece graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2012 from Murdoch University, studying afar from her Eastern-states based family. During her study, she spent a 5yr period living at Applecross Veterinary Hospital, and gained experience in their niche service, canine reproduction and breeding. Upon qualifying as a vet, Dr Elyece spent several years completing locum roles, sole-charge in Karratha, before moving down to the SW with her husband, Gerard. They have subsequently brought a special small man into the world, Angus.

During her time in the SW, Dr Elyece worked for short stints at several local practices, but unfortunately failed to find a secure, supportive environment to blossom in. She subsequently chose to broaden her horizons and field of impact by completing a Dip Ed and commenced teaching at one of Bunbury’s local high schools.

Dr Elyece has a deep-seated passion for Veterinary care. Like so many in our industry, the working conditions and environment in practice have not always been attractive, and have driven many away, disillusioned. However, in recent times, her thirst for continued input into the small animal pet care arena has brought her back into the fold. We are delighted to introduce Dr Elyece onto our team. She has particular interests in Exotic / Pocket Pet Medicine and Small Animal Acupuncture, which provides a great boost to our collective team skill-set / service provision.
