In what we believe is a first for regional Western Australia, the Bunbury and Eaton Vet Clinics are now able to provide CT Scans for pets.

Until now, animals had to be sent to Perth for CT scans, which obviously added a lot to the cost and time of accessing this type of service.

CT Scans can be used for a wide range of functions, including:

  1. Nasal/sinus disease- helps tell the difference between cancer and infection
  2. Musculoskeletal soft tissue tumours- accurately shows the tumour margins for surgical planning.
  3. Middle/inner ear evaluation- determines the need for surgery
  4. Skull trauma- increased sensitivity for fracture identification and brain haemorrhage.
  5. Elbows- allows diagnosis of elbow dysplasia
  6. Evaluate for slipped discs in animals backs
  7. Checking for tumour spread to lungs
  8. Evaluate chest masses/tumours
  9. Brain scans- allows visualization of most brain tumours, but much less sensitive than MRI for tumours, inflammatory, and vascular conditions.
  10. Ureter Evaluation- diagnosis of several urinary tract disorders

Appointments for CT scans can be made by calling the Bunbury or Eaton Vet Clinic.
